Built-in stoves offer the look of a fireplace insert for homes that do not have an existing fireplace. Pellet furnaces are larger units designed to replace a traditional furnace appliance. These are larger units that are designed to heat entire homes and distribute warm air via the home’s ductwork.

Pellet stoves can also be categorized based on the method used to distribute pellet fuel. Top-feed stoves deliver the fuel from a storage container located above the fire. Bottom-feed stoves deliver pellets from storage located behind or next to the stove. Generally, bottom-fed stoves are seen as more efficient because the feeding action helps to remove ash from the burn area.
